I’m Getting Married In The Morning….

…..and the photographs will be FREE!

That is the idea by some very smart wedding photographers at PRINT.

To introduce a new photographer to their company, they have asked for couples planning nuptials to submit their story.
Kinda like what the TODAY show did with couples this year.
Here are the entry regs:
“It thrills us to hear about couples who forgo conventions to create a wedding day that truly represents who they are.we especially love weddings full of DIY touches and those that are mindful of he environment. so go ahead-make us fall in love with you! be creative with your entry: tell us your story, how you met, the proposal, all that amazing stuff. send us photos and/or video of the two of you, inspiration boards showing your colours or theme and how you envision your day. (stylemepretty.com is a great place to see some fabulous inspiration boards.) let us know how your day is going to be unique and creative and why you deserve to be chosen as a finalist.”

And then people get to vote on the couple. Friends send out the voting site to everyone on their email list.
One of our photog readers passed it on to us.
Brilliant idea. Great marketing by a photographer, and involves their whole community of friends and family.
And now you, if you’d like.
It was great to read the stories, and of course look at the photographers site.
So go to the site, read, and vote.

We have read the entries, and honestly, the Amburr and Jarrett couple had the most moving story.
Heck, we almost wanted to pay for the photographer. Almost. I just hope they play “Midnight Confessions” at the reception. A classic favorite.
But we digress.
You can help and send a vote their way to push them over the top.

The point is that this is a great, honest, smart, promotional campaign. What do you think?

And we have another subject to deal with.

——————————————————————————————————————————-
While checking into one of our favorite sites, there was an article on using the Canon G9 as a “polaroid”
type of sample shooter. Test shots before bringing in the big sensor. Many folks wrote in to say how they end up using this camera as a main, when they don’t want to carry the big DLR.

OK, then we read about a design flaw that has been exposed:
From DP Review
“My g7 started showing blotches in images with smooth even lighting like a shot of the sky or a wall for example. I thought it to be sensor dust. it was most noticeable at full optical zoom. cant clean it my self. so I shelved it ,figuring I did something wrong. took it camping to many times in dusty locations etc . (I loved that g7) replaced with a new G9 that has raw. No dusty camping trips . bought in january 08 winter no camping trips yet as its cold out. mostly shots of family and building projects. guess what? Same blotches images. to many to photo shop out.”

Seems that there is static build-up when the camera powers up, lens extends, or retracts and it hold dust and other particulate that can only be removed by removing the lens, which should only be done by Canon.

Lets hope that the next gen (maybe at Photokina?) will solve this issue. Too many other good parts to this camera. But when you have to consider photoshop on your point and shoot photographs, just gto bring em to normal, not a good thing.
Dang, and I was about to buy one.
