Dan Eldon : The Journey is the Destination

Last night we attended a few gallery openings in Venice California. One of the great things about going to these events is the people you meet. You are already in one place for a common interest, so there are usually some common conversation points.

While waiting on a beverage, we met Edward.

After a short while he told us about a photojournalist, who had an incredible story, and an unfortunately short life.

Daniel Eldon was a 22 year old photographer working in Somalia in 1992 when he and some fellow journalists were chased down and stoned to death by an angry mob.

But he left a lot behind. Not only his photography, which was published in Time and Newsweek.
He left his journals, which are from ages 14-22. There you will find an attitude, point of view, imagery that will inspire, and an emerging voice. They can be discovered online or you can purchase the book ,edited by his mother, Kathy Eldon.

but first….go the this web site: Creative Visions: Dan Eldon
In addition to video you will be sent to some connecting sites.
At DanEldon.org you will also be able to flip through all of the journals on line.

Today, they are stored at the Los Angeles Country Museum of Art and are not available for most of us to see.

So we just found out about all of this last night and today we have spent a good deal of the morning reading and clicking. Our order for the book has just gone in.

It’s a rich journey you can take today, all online.

Thanks again Edward.
You never know what you’ll learn when you walk out the door.
