3D for digital cameras
As you read yesterday, 3D has a pretty rich history in our culture.
All of the ways to achieve it in print are based in the realm of shooting film.
Or are they?
The good folks at 3D Stereo.Com are carrying a 3D lens to fit your digital SLR, allowing you to shoot 2 images (left eye-right eye) on one frame[photopress:lensincap.jpg, full, centered]
I bought one, put it onto a Nikon D70 and it is incredible! A fixed lens with minor adjustments available (2 Fstops), it really works.
Using manual settings to get the right exposure, and of course my favorite 4×6 printer to quickly print out the dual images on one right sized print,
the Epson PictureMate Deluxe

I have been a 3D shooting fool!
Constantly looking for the right dimensional opportunity, this fast and relatively easy way to shoot and print 4×6 3D photos has been a blast.
When you purchase this “lens in a cap”as they call it, you also get a simple viewer, but the images will work in any number of Stereoscope units.
You see, there is a certain joy to exploration with something that is just fun. And the prospect of achieving a unique special image from this is…well…bonus!
And the fact that these 3D images can really only be seen one person at a time to full effect brings a more initimate concentrated viewing.
Thats it.
Nothing heavy, no global message. Cool to look at.
So check out the site. The lens is approx $100. USD. Nice folks there if you have questions.
We’ll get into more of the upcoming things this fall thorugh the week.
Lets see: PhotoKina,PhotoNY, Lucie Awards,PhotoPlus Expo. And some amazing exhibitions.
Cheers!
