Chicken Sh*t Bingo

On a recent trip to Texas I had the pleasure of taking in an event that is a “must see” in Austin.

Yes, the music is great there, the food is awesome. Gueros has some of the best Mexican food I’ve ever had.

But one of the most fun events came from a visit to Ginny’s Little Longhorn Tavern.

Its called “Chicken Sh*t Bingo ” and is legendary.

Here is an article on the event .

This is how it works: A board with 60 numbers from 1-60 is laid out on top of a pool table. There is a chicken wire (appropriately named) enclosure placed on top of it.
Then patrons line up for a chance to buy one ticket for $2. Your ticket has a number coressponding to a square.
Red the chicken then makes an appearance and is placed into the “arena”

After a time of walking around, eating feed and being cheered on by the crowd, Red evacuates on a number declaring the winner.

Too much darn fun.

There are some photographs in the Gallery giving you a taste of the action.

Just a quick share.

And check out some of the new entries in the Gallery. Plus new additions to the Lunch gallery.

It’s the middle of the week and perhaps you could use a bit of light reportage.

Cheers!
