Wrap up on new products- Yes, the holidays are beginning…start making the lists…

Here is the wrap up from the new gear we looked at in NYC. Not all of the things listed were on the videos posted this week.
As always, check the sites, go to your local dealer and see what works for you. In the case of the software, there are many with a 30 day free download. Take advantage of that.

This is the real stuff that I checked out, handled, tested, used. No BS here. However in the case of workshops I didn’t attend, and used interviews with attendees ,all software I have used in its 30 day demo period. Cool ? Hopefully i’m looking at this stuff like you would. That’s the goal.

Gear:
Nikon -: cool new point and shoot and today intoduced the D40
Hoodman – :best accessories you really can use.
Epson: best 4×6 consumer printer
Delkin :best DVD and CDs for strorage. And now an extremly fast CF card reader
Gorillapod: new way to attach you camera to unusual places from point and shoot to DSLR with zoom
Camera Armor: best camera protection
MonsterPod: another great way to attach your lightwieght camera
ExpoDisc: best color corrector on camera
LowePro: best innovative way to carry your cameras

Photo Software:
Nik Software best color pallette plug-ins for CS2
IVIEW Media Pro: best asset management system
Exposure : software that emulates film stock going back to the 30′s. Too good for words. Plus more in their catalog.

Photo Services:
Digital Railroad: new way to self promote and sell stock
IStock Photo: great entry level stock photo house
Asuka Books:best photo publishing for promotion and clients

Education:

Software Cinema: best DVD learning series
Sante Fe Workshops high quality photographic workshop
Maine Photographic Workshops another high quality short term photographic workshop
* not present but noted: Julia Dean Workshops
Please note: each workshop has something that works for different people. All great choice according people we polled.

This is the best of what we saw and handled. Some items have already become part of our systems. Crazy fast, right? But that good.

So the big question is…..what did we miss?

I’m sure plenty. Let me know if you’ve seen some “must check out ” gear or software out there.

Hope you’ve found this useful.
Email me with questions.

Cheers!
Damon Webster
