Thanks for bringing Ms Lange’s work to my attention, Damon. While I knew Brad Pitt was interested in Photography, I knew of no other actor who was. Now I’ll have to track down Jeff Bridges’s work too.

As for your question, Would you pay more for an image if you know it was made by Brad Pitt?, I assume you use Mr Pitt’s name as a stand-in for “famous actor”, and my answer would be “no, I wouldn’t”. But I’m not your average art-buyer :-)

I’ve always felt that an artist needs to prove him/herself worthy of praise with each and every piece of work. I find it insulting that Picasso could sell a canvas with a black dot on it just because “it’s a Picasso”. I don’t know that he ever did exactly this, but you get my point. Many artists ride on the coattails of their previous success despite their talents having faded. Such is Life.

While intrigruing, the person should be judged individually for their photographic pursuits. Sammy Davis’ photos (in the book “Photos by Sammy Davis Jr.) are certainly entertaining and fun to look at but not earth shattering. Bryan Adams’ fashion work is certainly in step with the current crop of what’s currently out today. Linda McCartney’s work is very good & I feel is underrated. Is is because she’s Mrs. Paul? Is she not also an Eastman(Kodak)?
