From one of our readers, Steve Simon:

” Heroines and Heros, Hope HIV and Africa”

In Heroines & Heroes, Steve Simon’s sensitive and gentle photographs illuminate both the suffering and the astonishing resilience of the people on the front lines of the AIDS pandemic. Though HIV prevalence rates and the number of people dying from AIDS are devastating, this book is not about statistics. It is about brave and determined people who persevere to reverse the tide of hopelessness and despair in the fight against AIDS. It is about how we can help.

Photographer Steve Simon has been documenting the AIDS crisis in Sub-Saharan Africa, since 2002. Heroines & Heroes is a call to action, a visual milepost on the 25-year chronicle of the HIV-AIDS pandemic, reminding us where love and determination exist, there is hope.
