Street Photography by Chris Weeks and the new Leica M9

A few weeks ago we met Chris Weeks at an event in Hollywood. He was photographing the event, a gallery opening, with a very distinctive set-up: not only was he using multiple DSLR’s but he was toting a Leica.
That alone was enough to strike up a conversation.
We started to discuss the advent of HD Video in DSLRs and some gear choices. Seems he had just been using one of our considered choices, and what he had to say cemented our purchase decision.
Continuing the dialog via email, we checked his work on line.
Wow. What a fresh engaging approach to photojournalism, including celebrity, that we had not seen before.
The apparent casual, yet unique style carried through the rest of his work and we were hooked.

And it turns out, the Leica he was using that night was a pre-release Leica M9.

He has been shooting a documentary on Street Photography, using that same Leica M9.
Check out Part 1:

If you didn’t catch enough, don’t worry. We’ll be posting Part 2 and 3 in the coming days.

By the way, it was all shot with a Canon 5D

And there will be a special Photoinduced video with Chris Weeks that we know you’ll dig.
Hear it all from a working pro.
