Beautiful day in NYC and we heard it was in the 70s! Nice.
Of course we were inside all day at the Javits center checking out some of the newest gear.
And we weren’t alone.
By the size of the crowd at PhotoPlus Expo, and the lines at any dealers booth that was selling, and not just displaying products, it was busier than we’ve seen it on a weekday in years!
Plus we were shooting a ton of video for you, so that’ll be getting posted shortly and you’ll get a closer look at the gear.
It started with Vincent Laforet, giving a seminar on DSLR cinematography.
Very impressive as he was really laying out some truths that many photogs haven’t considered. One of the main items is that to truly use the DSLR for solid videography, you be tripling the size and budget, not to mention the manpower to get there.
More on that in days to come.
There were at least 3 ways to hang a camera from your body displayed:
(yes, we know that’s only 2, but you get the idea, right?)
Gary Fong showed of his latest offering including the collapsible sphere.
We saw some stackable light stands from Manfrotto. Impressive space savers.
And Kodak was still giving out free film, to the delight of the crowd.
No doubt they were fulfilling the needs of the fans of the Lomography booth.
Now there were some obvious missing booths though: Adobe and Apple didn’t come to the party on the floor, but were evident in other ways.
It’s on for a couple of more days filled with show specials, and some seminars you shouldn’t miss.
And when it’s raining on Saturday, you might as well be inside getting inspired.
Come on down.
And if you’re not around, we’ll let you know what we saw, what was hot and what was totally not!
