Random New Years stuff

Hope you all had a safe and happy New Years !
Did many of you bring your cameras to the celebrations? Can we see?
Here are a couple of things shared with us through the various posts we’ve received, and friends on old Facebook:

Magnum Photos had some images of New Years aftermaths. Hopefully, you don’t see yourself in there, and if you do, perhaps a few days distance has made it all better.

From Lisa W in SF – she shared this very funny vid:
Nikon Girl music video, The Photo Club ( there is some PG-13 language in there)

Our good friends at Photojojo first introduced us to this idea.
Photo a day for 365 days.
It has been discussed on other sites too, such as Flickr where the main group there looks for self portraits.
Whatever the fine points of each group may be, we think it’s a great visual diary, and if you don’t leave the house without a camera (cell phones count!)
you now have a fresh way to have a journal.
Here is our day 2 photo:

This guy has been doing my fortune for many years. Always has been just for fun thing, till he called a crazy event 1 year before it happened.

The site is going through some design tweaks, as you can see. The goal is to make navigation simpler through some of the pages. For instance, on the RESOURCE page, we have now put the categories of links right up top, so you can easily get to where you want to go.
All links have been pre-searched ( googled, binged, yahooed, asked, etc.), so we hope it makes life easier.
Let us know what is missing or has gone dark.

The READERS GALLERY will be going through the biggest transition.
When we first designed it, the intention was to give photographers a clean space to show and promote their images.
There are many ways now to create your own beautiful, purposeful site for not much money.
Some as low as $39.00 a month which, in the scheme of things, is a darn good price to promote your work. We will be doing an upcoming review of some of these.
We now have a group on Flickr, and we hope you’ll join and share your work here.
If you already have a Flickr account, it’ll be super easy to add to the mix. If not- click here.
add a photoinduced.com tag to your photos, or drag and drop into the photoinduced.com group and you’re in!
We’ll be promoting this to our global audience so everyone will know you’re there. Plus, tagged right, people will find you.
Another part of this that we’re excited about, is the possibility of you licensing your images for publication.
Getty images regularly searches Flickr for photographs to add to their collection for licensing. Our goal is to have them regularly look at the photoinduced.com group, as a whole, for images.
You supply the photos, we’ll help promote and who knows what could happen?
We’ll also be using this Flickr group for special events through the year.

Our extreme thanks for all of those photographers who have been posted in the current Readers Gallery. we have been privileged to host your work and hope you have received some good things from being posted some.

We know the tough part will be the moderation of images.
Let us know when there are photos posted that may be, how shall we say, not appropriate for the group.
If it gets going the right way, we”l ask some of you to help with that.

So Happy Sunday, Happy New Year and all the best to you in the fresh new decade.
