Weekly Giveaway – Urban Disguise Camera Bags

OK, how many of you have more than one camera bag out there? C’mon raise your hands…….of course. Lots of you.

As well you should. The right tool for the right job. Whether it’s for transporting, storing, working out of, backpacking with, staying stealth, using some of your gear, using a LOT of your gear.

Packing strobes, or packing light, each company has their perfect bags.
And I’ll be very honest and tell you what i use at the end of all this. And why.

From the good folks at ThinkTank, this week we have camera bags with an additional purpose: supporting those photojournalists out in the world who bring the imagery to us at great risk.

Reporters Without Borders has fought for press freedom on a daily basis since it was founded in 1985.
Lucie Morillon, director of Reporters Without Borders USA, said, “Reporters Without Borders welcomes the launch of the Urban Disguise bags. Think Tank Photo is using this campaign to show its support of press freedom and concern about the dangers facing photojournalists by dedicating a portion of the proceeds from the bags sales to the international press freedom organization.
“In 2006, 82 journalists were killed for keeping people informed. One picture or one word too many can land a journalist in jail for years in countries such China, Cuba, and Eritrea. Every single day, thousands of journalists take risks to keep us informed. Since the start of the war in Iraq, 155 of them have been killed there. By buying Urban Disguise bags reporters will not only treat themselves to some great camera bags, but also show their solidarity with colleagues around the globe who risk their lives daily to get at the truth. Funds raised on behalf of Reporters Without Borders will help the organization pursue its activities in support of journalists, and improve their safety.”

“Many non-photographers are shocked when they find out that almost every moment of the day, in every corner of the world, photographers risk their lives to capture the images that appear in newspapers, publications, and on the Internet,” said Doug Murdoch, Think Tank Photo’s president and lead designer. “Our cause as a company is simple: the freedom of photographers to travel and take pictures without being wounded, attacked, or imprisoned for doing their job. To that end, we are proud to support Reporters Without Borders USA, which documents and legally fights for journalists and photojournalists around the world.

“We invite others to join with us in supporting this vitally important organization. To find out more about them and to make a donation, go to http://www.rsf.org.”

Now that’s some of the story behind the bags and the cause that ThinkTank is supporting with their sales.
