Miami hotels – Come for the partying, stay for the art?

On our trip last week to Miami for the Clios, each hotel had a distinctive decor with each room on the main floors evoking a feeling of…what the heck are you thinking? There were so many mash ups of extreme styles that a walk from the front door to the restaurant was a long walk indeed.

But the Sagamore Hotel , showed a very different face. Not only were there pieces of modern sculpture placed around the lobby, but an amazing show of Elliot Erwitt’s photographs graced the walls.

Yep as soon as you checked in, Mr. Erwitts classic image of lovers reflected in the rear view car mirror greeted you at the front desk.

Further down the hall there were two, somewhat crowded, walls with some of the best of this photographers work. Wall space is at a premium and the rows of images and images were almost like getting a look at a book layout but framed.

While you trekked through the AC to get to the pool, or rushed out to the hottest nightclubs, there was a museum quality show to slow you down. I guess that’s why they call it the Art Hotel.

Right on Sagamore, right on.

Cheers!
