3D & Cameras & Tablets, oh My! CES 2011 brings on the new gear for the new year!

Seems like we just went thorugh the barrage of picking up what’s new in the electronics world fro the holidays, when right around the corner comes CES in Las Vegas. That’s the Consumer Electronics Show.
What does that mean to you as a photographer?
Well, as the iPad has become one of the best peripheral tools for portfolios, functional apps (over 400 photo apps at last count) and even as a client friendly way to wirelessly show tethered shoot images, the competition is coming loaded for bear to this trade show. There is supposed to be about 100 tablets showing off there.
And as PMA starts to lose steam ( Canon didn’t even show at the last one) , more manufacturers are looking to this as a showcase for new products shown off to the press. Granted, many of the products will most likely be the consumer or prosumer at best, product lines.
But we are meeting with a bunch of the standard bearers to hear a bit about what’s coming up in the next year, and maybe beyond.
Plus we’ll be looking out for any peripheral tools that can help photographers achieve the images they need, including power management, data storage and backup, and anything else that may enhance your photographic life.

Last year it was Lady Gaga at Polaroid:

This year, we’ll see the results of her creative direction within their product line. The new meat covered camera?

And in 2010 we saw the GoPro HD camera for the first time:

Who knows what we’ll see this time, but we’ll keep you in the loop.
Canon, Nikon, Olympus, Samsung, Lexar, Drobo and more will be on hand to let us in on the new stuff.
There are about 3-4 football field size pavilions for of new technology, so we won’t see it all, but hopefully we’ll touch the key goods that may mean something to you.
And not another shot of Gaga. It was random, yet most requested.
Sheesh!
