And We’re Off to One of Our Favorite Events to Cover All Year: SXSW!

Austin,Texas, with a triple scoop of Interactive, Film And Music events.
Seminars, performances, networking, parties.
it’s got it all. South By SouthWest has got to be one of the best all around festivals happening today, bar none.
The finest minds in the interactive and social media space, combine with some of the finest content creators of our time in film, and bundled up with the mainstay of the event, the music.

We look forward to this every year and are never disappointed.
Now as photographers this time gives us a chance to really work out all of our event gear in a real world situation.

From covering Speakers keynotes:

To panelists like Robert Rodriguez:

And of course, the music:

Raphael Saadiq killing it on a Saturday night!

You get the crowds full up:

and as singles:

You always have to be ready for the happenstance meeting, like this one with Philip Bloom:

So the gear you bring, has to be able top cover a huge gamut of situations, as well as be stealth when it needs to be.
We’re just getting our gear bag set out for the trip and we’ll show “what’s in our bag” as we go.

Count on: 2 DSLR’s, Multiple Zoom Lenses, Cards, Batts, Speedlight with modifier, brackets, cords, cables and the rest, all coming with us.
There will be 2 builds: one for the gear we bring, and then how we break it down for the events.
The best way to do a real world review is using it under fire, so that”s what we’ll do.
Oh, and of course we’ll carry a mid-size camera, for the mini walkabouts. You know the kind of camera you don’t usually changes lenses on, but can add an additional bit of glass.
And the extra tools that make the shooting experience a better thing. Like a slamming camera bag. Or the extra battery for the iPhone.
Go ahead and laugh. Last year, every bar seat was grabbed fast due to proximity to an eletrical socket. And everyone carried a charger cord. Sure, crazy, but not this year. Mophie for us.

Video is always a consideration and our standard travel pack will be along for the ride.

We’ll be tweeting and facebooking for the fastest communique’s so check on the site for the twitter feed, and our Facebook page for posts. Of course the longer observations will be right here, on our home page.
