I've just now have been invited on a whale watch less than 48 hrs. away. Can anyone advise me which lens to take? I wil have one camera at the ready with a wide angle. I don't know if I should bring the monster 300 F2.8 with a 1.4 TC, or the 70-300mm f5.6 zoom. This may be the one and only time I'll have as I do not do well on water. Thanks in advance.
I think I've answered my own question. Without a filter for the prime, I dare not take it to sea. Along with holding comfort primary, I've made my decision to go with the zoom & compensate with a faster ISO. After spending some time searching on the internet I was surprised to not be able to find appropriate suggesstions. Will be sure to share with you any siteings on Sunday!
At least now you have time for some more research. I would still be careful about sea spray. And would take the long lenses with some solid sandbags or other way to steady the camera. Perhaps some dramamine before the voyage would help. Cheers! Damon
