Here They Come…Faster Than A Speeding Bullet…Able to Upgrade Your Photos in a Single Bound

Look! Up in the Sky! It’s Canon and Nikon!. With new DSLRs for you to desire, covet, wait for.
Not surprised are you?
It’s almost time for Photokina, the every 2 year trade show in Cologne, Germany. This is where the manufacturers introduce the latest gear, which may be ready for the coming buying season: the HOLIDAYS!

But will the consumer come along for the ride? As the global economy has drained the enthusiasts disposable income, a new camera purchase may be on the back burner.
What do you think?

The folks at Canon and Nikon though, have just done some pre-show work with the announcements of two new DSLRs.
Yep,The big boys are rolling out some solid doubles but we know the swings to the fences are still to come.

Canon came in first with the 50D weighing in with 15.1 mega pixel, new processor, ISO setting from 100-12800.
Available in Oct. for about $1300.

Now Nikon made an interesting move with the D90 replacing the D80. Duh.
Here they went for 12.3 mega pixels and added a 24fps HD video mode. Now, there is a great use for that huge 3 inch screen. What about the sound though? Can’t add a mic. Although you are using high end Nikon glass.
DX sensor and about $1000. ISO from 100 to 6400 within an expanded range. Uses the same old batteries, thank goodness, so you won’t have to buy those again. SD cards so you can add that Eye-Fi card you’ve been thinking about.

What was our favorite new item that was introduced?

[photopress:353_25396_GP_1_GPS_Unit_front.jpg,full,centered] The new GPS module from Nikon.
However it seems at this point, the GP-1 GPS unit requires ViewNX version 1.2 which will be available for free download, and My Picturetown.

We love the Geo-PicII and will continue to use it. It doesn’t need proprietary software. Works just great in my regular workflow with Adobe Lightroom.

But this is so cool. Sorry to be 12, but it is. The first GPS unit with a compact size introduced by a major. Bravo.

So these are just some of the new coming down the road.

We’ll keep bringing you the new news. And remember: as the new ones come out, the old ones drop in price.

A friend of mine told me today he bought a DSLR. After a few months he realized there were just way too many options. Thanks to EBAY, he sold it and I’m now advising him (along with all of the forums.blogs and reviews sites, on a point and shoot that will suit his needs.
Spend well, spend wisely, just take pictures.
